What customers say?

“ I discovered La Primavera Ristorante one evening when I was going to Essex Green Movie Theater. I had time to kill & it just so happened that Fridays shut down. I usually just grabbed something quickly there but since it was permanently closed I decided to go somewhere nearby. Fortunately, I lucked into this amazing restaurant. Truth is, I was coming directly from work. I wasn't looking for fancy place to eat, I simply wanted something to fill my stomach. This restaurant had the most pleasant staff who knew exactly what to recommend. Their Rock Shrimp is basically legendary, I've since gotten the rest of my family addicted to it. Their entrees are all exquisite. Their wine list itself is also very good. It's not the largest selection but it covers a wide range. Their premium Amarone is fairly priced & a pleasant bottle to enjoy. If you decide to go with a lower priced bottle they have a great selection of Cabs that are very good & very reasonably priced. You really can't go wrong here. I would say the only constructive criticism from me would be that they should advertise. I only found them by accident. I'm really glad I did, but if it weren't for those wild pandemic days & chains like Fridays leaving me standing out in the cold, I don't know if I would've found them. They are my wife's favorite restaurant in the Caldwells, West Orange area. They truly are a fantastic spot whether you bring your entire family or keep it intimate. ”

“ Excellent food and service. Was in town for a wedding and tried this place the evening before. Chicken piccata was great, two large flat breasts with a great sauce and plenty of capers. The vodka penne was even better and very light sauce. One of our party ordered the pork chop and said it was the best chop he had ever eaten. The sashimi tuna appetizer was excellent and was enough for a meal for a light eater. Very attentive service, my water glass was refilled anytime I took more than two sips. Complimentary bread and small thin crust cheese pizza while waiting. Not a large place but they take reservations. Definitely would return. ”

“ We came here spontaneously and we were pleasantly surprised. Staff was professional, well mannered and welcoming. Atmosphere was romantic and classy. The food was absolutely great. A contender for the best lasagna I have ever had(and I have eaten at some great places in Manhattan), and the crab cake and shrimp were extraordinary as well. I had the chocolate mousse cake and my fiancee had the tiramisu, both were great for our individual palates. I like intense chocolate flavor, so it was perfect for me. The tiramisu was light and had a great balance of flavor. All in all, we had a great experience. We'll be back next time we are in the area, and we already recommended Primavera Ristorante to our friends. ”

“ Great restaurant! Intimate dining, excellent service. My go-to Italian restaurant dish is the chicken parmesan, which I rank as one of the best I have ever had. My colleagues had the salmon and they said it was good but not the best they ever got. Another coworker had the Berkshire pork chop, and he loved it! ThWe also had their calamari, which is also a go-to appetizer for me at Italian restaurants, and it was one of the best.e little pizza appetizer given to us was complimentary from the restaurant. Overall great restaurant will return. ”

“ I went to this restaurant to celebrate my two sisters' birthdays. Service from beginning to end was excellent. The restaurant is small, and I would advise reservations. They have a wonderful menu of great Italian dishes prepared to perfection. We ordered appetizers, which were calamari, shrimp arrabiata, and the meatballs with fresh ricotta. All were excellent. Our main entrees we ordered were the seafood cappalini, lasagna w/ meat sauce, and the pork chop. The seafood cappalini was excellently prepared, just simply delicious with plenty of lobster, shrimp, mussels, and clams! Double cut pork chop could easily feed two people. Lasagna was delicious as well. Don't skip the desserts. The New York cheese cake is a must try. I highly recommend this restaurant. ”

“ My first time visiting restaurant. I read reviews and wanted to find small place to celebrate my mom's 90th birthday. The staff was wonderful. Very attentive to large group , patient, kind and funny at times. We ate ala carte as suggested. The food was excellent, everyone's plates were clean. We had a range of pasta, steak and seafood dishes. ”

“ Fresh food, good flavors, exceptional and very attentive service! Good portions. I'm 2nd generation Italian so I'm always looking for the flavors I grew up tasting, they came close. See photos of our choices. Calamari was lightly battered and very soft, not chewy like most places. Eggplant was baked, thinly sliced and not greasy. Other dinners were tasty too. We got a free three piece mini pizza appetizer so that was a nice surprise. Very nice atmosphere. ”

“ I hosted my son's rehearsal dinner at Primavera and it was absolutely perfect! The food was delicious and plentiful (tons of food!), and the service was incredible. One of our guests commented that it was the best Italian food she'd ever had. Thank you Dominick and staff for a truly memorable evening. ”
